In operating DART's Wallet (the "Service"), DART's Inc. (the "Company") has established the following personal information protection policy (this "Policy"), built a framework for protecting personal information, and promotes the protection of personal information by ensuring that all employees understand the importance of protecting personal information and act accordingly.

Personal information

"Personal information" means personal information as defined in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003): information relating to a living individual that can identify that specific individual by name, date of birth or other description contained in the information (including information that can be readily collated with other information and thereby identify a specific individual), or that contains an individual identification code.

Proper acquisition and use of personal information

The Company acquires personal information properly and does not acquire it by deception or other improper means. Personal information acquired is not used beyond the stated purpose, and is used properly within the scope necessary to achieve that purpose.

Management of personal information

To keep customers' personal information accurate and up to date and to prevent unauthorised access, loss, damage, alteration or leakage, the Company takes the necessary measures — including maintaining security systems, establishing a management framework and providing thorough employee training — and implements safety measures to manage personal information rigorously. The main details are as follows.

(1) Formulating a personal information protection declaration

To ensure the proper handling of personal information, this Policy has been established on the basis of compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.

(2) Establishing rules for handling personal information

Internal rules on handling personal information have been established, covering handling methods, responsible persons and staff and their duties at each stage of acquisition, use, storage, provision, deletion and disposal.

(3) Organisational safety management measures

  • In addition to appointing a manager responsible for handling personal information, the Company clarifies which employees handle personal information and the scope of the personal information they handle, ensures operation in accordance with the handling rules, and maintains a reporting and communication structure to the responsible manager should any fact or sign of a breach of the law or the handling rules be identified.
  • The Company maintains means of checking the status of personal information handling at any time, carries out regular self-inspections, and conducts audits (internal audits) by other departments or external parties.

(4) Human safety management measures

  • Matters concerning confidentiality of personal information are set out in the work regulations, and employees are required to submit a written pledge concerning the handling of personal information when they join the Company.
  • Employees receive regular training on points to note when handling personal information, and their roles and responsibilities are clarified and their compliance checked.

(5) Physical safety management measures

  • Areas in which personal information is handled are designated, and employee entry and exit is controlled.
  • Equipment and electronic media containing personal information are managed appropriately to prevent theft or loss, and are disposed of appropriately when no longer required.

(6) Technical safety management measures

  • Access control is implemented to limit the personnel involved and the scope of the personal information databases handled.
  • Measures are taken to protect information systems that handle personal information from unauthorised external access and from malicious software.
